This piece has a nice look, feels substantial and works well in an additional area of our kitchen as a coffee station/storage piece. The surface is durable...no issues with the water that often gets spilled on it...the finish holds up well. It wasn't terribly difficult to assemble, but a second set of hands would be good.

I would have given this island a perfect score [...] I do agree with the others that the top isn't as durable as it should be as far as scratches are concerned..I think I'll try something other than glass on the top...it kind of takes away from how beautiful this island really is...please buy it you'll thank us:0)

This island looks really substantial and is the perfect size for my kitchen. I have stored kitchen towels in the drawer, casserole dishes, plastic bowls and cutting boards in the cabinet, and have displayed bowls and baskets on the side shelves. After reading other reviews, I purchased a piece of glass to protect the top surface. The only con I can think of is that dust shows up fairly quickly on a black surface.
Overall, I am very pleased with the island!
